Quick answer

EcoFlow lists the DELTA 3 and DELTA 3 Plus with the same 1,024 Wh capacity, 1,800 W total AC output and about 27.6 lb weight. The practical difference is how you refill the battery and connect electronics. DELTA 3 has a 500 W solar input and USB-C output rated up to 100 W per port. DELTA 3 Plus has two 500 W solar inputs and USB-C rated up to 140 W per port. Choose the Plus when those connections solve a real need. A Plus label alone does not increase the base battery reserve.

Start with the exact DELTA 3 model name

EcoFlow uses DELTA 3 as a family name and as the name of a specific station. This comparison covers the standard DELTA 3 and DELTA 3 Plus shown on their current US product pages. Do not transfer these specifications to another family variant because the name looks similar. On an Amazon listing, compare the model identifier, capacity, included panel and expansion battery with the maker's information.

For an outage, the decision starts with the equipment that must stay on and the recharge route you will have. A station used for a router near a wall outlet has a different job from one carrying essential plug-in loads through an extended interruption with solar replenishment. Ready.gov recommends taking an inventory of electricity-dependent items and arranging alternative power before an outage. Work from that inventory instead of filling every available outlet.

What changes between the base station and Plus

The output figures are limits, not device compatibility guarantees. The AC rating applies across the outlets together. EcoFlow also lists a separate 2,200 W X-Boost mode. Do not use that figure as the ordinary continuous AC rating when checking essential equipment. Check the station and appliance instructions for explicit compatibility with that mode.

The Plus solar maximum is 1,000 W in total by adding its two 500 W inputs. That extra input can matter when compatible panels and sunlight are available. It does not change the 1,024 Wh battery when the units are unplugged overnight.

Make a refill plan before adding more loads

EcoFlow advertises a complete AC charge in 56 minutes using 1,500 W input for either station. Its solar claims differ: a full charge in 2 hours for the base model using 500 W MPPT input, and 70 minutes for the Plus using both solar inputs. EcoFlow's footnote says its results depend on conditions including temperature and humidity. Treat these as maker claims under the stated setup, not a recovery schedule for a cloudy outage.

Both pages list solar input between 11 and 60 V. A matching connector alone does not establish that a panel arrangement is safe. Confirm panel voltage, current limits, cabling and cold-weather open-circuit voltage in the exact station manual before connecting a string. The Plus needs an appropriate arrangement for each input if you intend to use both.

If wall power is your only charging route, the stations share the stated AC charging rate. If sunlight will be the refill route, choose the panel configuration first and then decide whether the Plus has useful additional input. During an outage, check actual incoming power and remaining charge before switching optional loads back on.

Expansion adds energy rather than higher AC output

The standard model page offers a DELTA 3 plus DELTA 3 Extra Battery bundle at 2,048 Wh with the same 1,800 W AC output. The capacity arithmetic is 1,024 plus 1,024 Wh. That gives a larger energy reserve; it does not make the station a higher-output inverter. A motor that exceeds the station's capability is not solved by attaching more battery capacity.

The pages also identify compatible expansion batteries from the DELTA 2, DELTA 2 Max, DELTA 3 and DELTA Pro 3 families. The current Plus page specifically describes an Alternator Charger XT150 Output Cable for the listed connections. Confirm the exact battery, required cable and connection procedure before buying. Do not assume all accessories in a product photograph come with the offer.

For perspective, dividing the base 1,024 Wh by the full 1,800 W output gives about 0.57 hours before conversion losses and the station's own use. This is only arithmetic at a hypothetical continuous full load, not a published runtime. Measure your appliance's energy use and cycling pattern to estimate a useful reserve. Keep output capability, storage capacity and charging speed as separate decisions.

UPS switching and long-term readiness need a check

The product tables list a UPS changeover below 10 milliseconds. Their narrative also refers to a 10 ms UPS. These descriptions support a short interruption, not zero interruption. Check compatibility with your connected electronics and the procedures in their manuals before depending on automatic switching. Sensitive equipment and electricity-dependent medical devices need a plan suited to their requirements.

Ready.gov says to discuss powered medical equipment and refrigerated medicines with a medical provider and arrange alternate plans. Keep essential communication and lighting available even if the station trips, is empty or cannot operate a connected load. A manufacturer's outage illustration cannot establish that your own equipment is protected.

EcoFlow lists LFP chemistry and 4,000 cycles to at least 80% capacity for both stations. That is a stated capacity-retention benchmark under its conditions, not a guarantee of a particular number of calendar years in your home. Charge, inspect and store the unit according to its current manual so emergency readiness does not depend on remembering an old display reading.

The IP65 claim belongs to the battery pack

Both EcoFlow tables label IP65 as the waterproof level of the battery pack. That limited claim should not be read as permission to expose the entire station, plugs or AC outlets to water. Put the station in a dry location, leave its cooling path open and follow the manual for temperature and installation restrictions.

If a fuel generator becomes your recharge source, apply the generator rules throughout charging. NFPA calls for outdoor placement at least 20 feet from building openings, exhaust pointed away, working CO alarms and an engine that is off and cooled before refueling. House circuits require properly rated transfer equipment installed by a qualified electrician. Directly powering a suitable plug-in appliance is a different setup from connecting any portable source to a service panel.

What to look for when you buy

Wall-refill example: EcoFlow DELTA 3

Best for: Essential plug-in loads with a single solar input or AC charging

The standard station lists 1,024 Wh, 1,800 W total AC output, 1,500 W AC charging and a 500 W solar input. Its USB-C ports are rated up to 100 W each.

Watch out: Choose by total load and measured energy. The single solar input cannot use the Plus model's combined 1,000 W input arrangement.

Dual solar input example: EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus

Best for: An outage refill plan that can make use of both solar inputs

EcoFlow retains 1,024 Wh and 1,800 W output while adding two 500 W solar inputs and 140 W maximum USB-C output per port.

Watch out: The base reserve is unchanged. Panels are separate unless the exact listing explicitly includes a kit, and the current maker page marks some configurations as unavailable or delayed.

Extended reserve example: DELTA 3 with DELTA 3 Extra Battery

Best for: More stored energy between available recharges

EcoFlow's standard-model page lists this combination at 2,048 Wh while keeping 1,800 W output. It expands the energy available for a suitable load.

Watch out: Confirm the matching connection cable and contents of the bundle. A battery expansion does not increase the station's AC output rating.

Questions people ask

What is a UPS power supply in the DELTA 3?
It provides backup power after loss of the incoming supply. EcoFlow's table lists switching below 10 ms and its narrative describes 10 ms. Neither wording promises zero interruption; confirm that your equipment tolerates the changeover.
Is DELTA 3 Plus a larger battery than DELTA 3?
No. Both maker tables specify 1,024 Wh. The Plus changes connections, including dual solar inputs and higher rated USB-C output. An extra battery is a separate capacity decision.
Can an extra battery help with an oversized appliance?
It adds stored energy, not higher AC capability. The standard DELTA 3 and Extra Battery bundle is listed at 2,048 Wh and still 1,800 W. Check running and starting demand before choosing it.
Is the EcoFlow DELTA 3 waterproof?
The stated IP65 rating is for the battery pack. EcoFlow does not label the entire package with that rating in the spec table. Keep the station and its connections dry and follow its manual.
