Magazine pouches for organizing empty magazines and range gear

By the Plain Prepper editors. Updated 2026-10-17.

We research products from makers' specs, manuals and safety agencies; we do not run hands-on tests. Links to Amazon may earn us a commission at no cost to you. How this works.

Quick answer

Choose the Condor MA32 for a single pistol magazine with an adjustable flap. Compare the High Speed Gear GEN 2 Double Pistol TACO 24PT02BK when you want two pistol slots with adjustable shock cord retention. For documented AR/M4 magazine storage, compare the Condor MA4. Match the exact magazine and attachment platform first. These are empty pouches, not magazines, locks or firearm storage containers.

We compared manufacturer descriptions and exact listing identities, not draw speed or field performance. All buying links search for the empty accessory. No magazines or ammunition are included in these recommendations.

Start with the empty magazine you actually own

A pouch must match the shape of its contents. Note the magazine maker and model, then check the pouch maker documentation. Do not use the firearm name alone as a shortcut when different magazine shapes or extensions are involved. A listed outside pouch dimension is useful for bag planning; it is not an inside clearance measurement.

Condor calls the MA32 a universal design for most pistol magazines. That wording calls for a fit check, not a promise that every pistol magazine works. Its flap can be adjusted or removed. If you want covered storage, check that the flap can actually close over your empty magazine, without assuming removal of the flap solves a poor fit.

A flap and an open top solve different organization needs

The Condor MA32 and MA4 have adjustable removable flaps. They are the starting point here if your preference is a fabric cover over the opening. Decide that before comparing attachment details. An open top pouch should not be presented as a covered product simply because an optional accessory exists.

High Speed Gear lists integrated shock cord for adjustable retention on its GEN 2 Double Pistol TACO. It also says an HSG OTR Cover can turn a GEN 2 TACO into a covered setup. Check the cover and pouch compatibility separately if you want that arrangement; it is not a bundled part promised by this guide. We make no claims about retention during movement or tactical use.

Check the mounting as carefully as the pocket

Condor describes both listed models as MOLLE compatible. High Speed Gear describes MOLLE and belt mounting options and an included HSG clip for the GEN 2 Double Pistol TACO. Match the attachment method to the bag or belt you already use rather than buying another platform because a pouch happens to fit it.

Lay out where the accessory will sit on a range bag before choosing a wider model. Think about nearby handles, zipper openings and other pockets. Outside dimensions can help you plan the space, but none of these product descriptions proves a fit on every brand of bag. Ask the maker when your platform is unusual.

Capacity labels deserve a second look

The MA32 is a single pistol magazine pouch. The HSG GEN 2 double pistol model holds two pistol magazines or similarly sized items, according to the maker. Condor lists four AR/M4 magazines for the MA4 Double M4 pouch. The matching Amazon listing mixes a two per pocket description with a six magazine bullet. Condor says four; this guide uses the maker specification and flags that listing discrepancy.

Choose only the capacity your organization needs call for. A bigger pouch occupies more of the available bag layout, and the additional slots are not useful if you cannot identify their contents. The comparison here separates pistol and AR/M4 forms. It does not expand any maker compatibility statement to another rifle magazine family or to an extended magazine.

Keep the storage boundary clear

These pouches help organize detached empty magazines at the range or in a gear bag. A flap, elastic keeper or shock cord does not turn a pouch into locked storage. Project ChildSafe recommends firearms unloaded in secure locked storage, with ammunition locked separately. That safety plan still applies after buying an organizer.

For the firearm itself, compare the pistol case guide and the compact handgun safe guide. Before ordering a pouch, confirm the exact code, generation, mounting version, color and quantity in the listing. Search results can mix the original TACO with GEN 2, or an entire carrier with a separate accessory cover. Do not buy by the first similar photograph.

Exact model documents and warranty limits

Condor's 2026 catalog identifies MA4 in its M4 pouch group on page 80 and MA32 in the pistol pouch table on page 82. The catalog's color codes include 498 and 002, respectively. Use the exact product pages for the current capacity and mounting details; the catalog does not establish fit for every magazine.

High Speed Gear's separate 2025 catalog identifies GEN 2 Double Pistol TACO as 24PT02XX. Its product page maps the selected black MOLLE version to 24PT02BK. The XX catalog suffix covers the product family, not a different GEN 2 Duty pouch. Keep the exact suffix and mount when ordering.

High Speed Gear covers manufacturing defects for the original owner for the product's lifetime, limited to HSG or authorized US seller purchases. It may repair or replace; wear, improper care, accident and negligence are excluded, and inbound shipping is the buyer's responsibility. Condor's separate warranty FAQ covers gear for up to one year when bought from Condor or an authorized dealer. It excludes misuse, extended wear, modifications, tampering and caustic damage; third party purchases go through that seller's customer service. Exact coverage for the selected MA32 and MA4 packages was not confirmed, and the MA4 seller's authorized status was not verified. Confirm eligibility before relying on coverage; a return window is separate.

What to look for when you buy

Condor Single Pistol Mag Pouch MA32

Best for: A covered single pistol magazine organizer

The maker lists an adjustable removable hook and loop flap, elastic retention and MOLLE compatibility. Published outside dimensions are 5 x 2.5 x 1 inches.

Condor Double M4 Mag Pouch MA4-498

Best for: A flapped organizer for AR/M4 magazines

Condor lists four AR/M4 magazine capacity, adjustable flaps, elastic keepers and MOLLE compatibility. Its outside size is 7.25 x 7 x 2 inches.

Watch out: Condor lists four magazine capacity, but the checked listing also says six in a conflicting bullet. Confirm the exact MA4-498 package; no six magazine claim is used here. Condor lists up to one year for eligible gear; coverage for this exact offer was not confirmed.

Questions people ask

Is a magazine pouch the same thing as a magazine?
No. These picks are empty accessory pouches. The buying queries identify organizers, not ammunition feeding devices.
Will a pistol magazine pouch hold rifle magazines?
Do not assume that. The comparison separates the pistol models from the Condor MA4, which the maker identifies for AR/M4 magazines.
Does the HSG GEN 2 pouch include a cover?
The maker describes an HSG OTR Cover as an additional accessory. Verify the exact cover separately if you want a covered opening.
Is a flapped pouch secure storage for ammunition?
A fabric closure is not a lock. Project ChildSafe recommends locking ammunition separately from firearms; an organizer does not replace that storage.
