COAST flashlights: what the spec sheets and warranty actually say

Quick answer

COAST lists lifetime warranty coverage for its LED flashlights against defects in materials and workmanship, for the original purchaser in the U.S. and Canada. Batteries and wear are not covered. Its PX200R lists 2,000 lumens in turbo with a 200 m beam and twist focus. The PX1R lists 1,000 lumens and runs on its rechargeable pack or three AAA batteries. The G19 is an AAA penlight for close inspection. All three carry an IP54 rating, which means water- and dust-resistant, not submersible.

Under ANSI FL1, beam distance in meters equals 2 times the square root of candela, so COAST's 200 m figure implies about 10,000 candela and 159 m about 6,300.

What COAST's features mean

Runtime in a power outage

COAST's mode tables show how output trades against runtime:

Olight's guide to the FL1 standard explains that rated runtime counts down until output falls to 10% of its starting level, so a light is not at full brightness for the whole time listed. For a long outage, the PX1R's option to swap in AAA cells means you can keep it running without charging; the PX200R needs USB-C power.

IP54 and the warranty

Because battery leakage is excluded, remove alkaline cells from a light you store for long periods.
